The Summit Learning Academy Foundation was founded in 2006 as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization in response to a
"call to action" by the Summit Public School District. In January of 2006, a meeting was called in an effort to raise awareness about the declining level of proficiency on state required tests among certain sub-groups in our community. Principals and academic advisors met with the community group (S4A) to share this information and talk about possible solutions. Following that meeting, the The Summit Learning Academy Foundation was established and the after school tutoring/enrichment program for grades Kindergarten thru fifth were implemented. The program is in it's fourth program year and in our new location at
The Oakes Building, Broad St., Summit, NJ. With our staff of tutor volunteers, the program is documenting wonderful success and continues to see positive results. The Summit Learning Academy is open to all students interested in reaching their highest potential.
In the summer of 2007, we adopted the Jump Start program to offer math enrichment for grades 4 - 10. The program offered courses in Elementary and Middle School Math, Pre Algebra, Algebra, Geometry and Algebra II. The program will continue in the Summer of 2009.
